Operation Arkansas Angels: Mass rescue of 34 dogs in the first of multiple deployments

ARC’s Rescue Team deployed in response to an urgent situation in rural Arkansas. Some time ago, a small rescue opened its doors there with the dream of helping the overflow of homeless animals in their community.

Again and again, they did just that—opened their doors. But in this rural area, adoption opportunities were limited. Soon they found themselves over capacity, trying to care for more dogs than is sustainable. Knowing the animals needed more networks and care than they could provide on their own, they began to ask for help.

Animal Rescue Corps was founded to answer calls for help just like this one.

As part of Operation Arkansas Angels, 34 dogs were transported with ARC’s Field Team back our Rescue Center outside Nashville, TN, to receive the medical treatment, nutritious food, enrichment, and compassionate care they need to start their next chapters. This was the first of several planned deployments in this mass rescue.

Many of the dogs in this mass rescue were larger breeds, and will very likely be in our care longer as our placement partners wait for limited space to open up. But we also know every animal, regardless of size or breed, deserves the same opportunity for love and family that our own companion animals have.

When there are no other resources for challenging, expensive, or long-term cases, ARC steps up. As the dogs are ready, we will match them with trusted shelter and rescue partners in high-adoption communities across the country, then transport them there so they can finally find the loving families they have always wanted and deserved.
