Emergency rescue of 23 dogs, including two mothers and 16 young puppies, living in a jail with no place to go

The Animal Rescue Corps team rescued 23 dogs in Batesville, MS earlier this month. After a cruelty seizure by local law enforcement in a county with no local shelters,  a county with few local resources left the dogs with nowhere else to go. They were brought temporarily to the local Sheriff’s Office, where they stayed for weeks. But they couldn’t stay there forever. Time was running out, and all 23 dogs, including 16 vulnerable puppies, faced euthanasia.

OPERATION JAILBREAK

When Animal Rescue Corps received the call for help, we said yes. The dogs were relocated to ARC’s Rescue Center, where they will receive medical and social care as well as daily physical care and enrichment until they are ready to be placed within our network of vetted placement partners in high-adoption regions.
