Emergency Rescue: Trapped and caged in their own waste

After a deceased dog was found on a rural Tennessee road, a law enforcement officer investigated the surrounding properties and found a scene of heartbreaking cruelty. Six dogs and puppies lived in barren, filthy cages, covered in their own waste. The county – one of the many with inadequate and overstretched resources for animals – immediately contacted Animal Rescue Corps for urgent assistance in this emergency rescue. An ARC Field Team deployed immediately for ARC’s third case in the past two and a half weeks.

Upon arrival, the property resident’s roommate told team members that she took the garden hose and sprayed all the dogs while the team was en route. After questioning, she said it was to “clean the poop off them.” Consequently, law enforcement issued a citation and summons to the resident.

Law enforcement surrendered the dogs into ARC’s care, and rushed to ARC’s Rescue Center outside Nashville for medical, physical, and social care. When they are ready, this will be followed by matchmaking with vetted placement partners to find the loving homes they’ve always deserved.
