Emergency rescue of 31 dogs in crisis
When local resources in Louisiana were overwhelmed by a large-scale animal cruelty case and the seizure of dozens of animals in need of urgent care and help, there was only one place left to turn.
Animal Rescue Corps received an urgent call from St. Bernard Parish to help 31 dogs who the Sheriff’s Office had rescued from unsafe, unhealthy living conditions. According to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, “Veterinarians on scene determined many of the animals were suffering from serious health concerns and were in danger of imminent death.”
The alleged neglecter iwas reported to be a former animal shelter worker, making this case all the more heartbreaking.
ARC’s team deployed and the dogs arrived late that same night into ARC’s care in Operation Bayou Betrayal. The dogs required medical treatment, shelter, rehabilitation, and placement opportunities that simply weren’t available locally in a parish already struggling with animal overpopulation.
