Operation Broken Chain

Ashland City, TN – Animal Rescue Corps (ARC) removed 65 dogs from a property of a suspected dogfighting ring, in Ashland City (35 minutes west of Nashville) in a rescue mission called Operation Broken Chain. On Thanksgiving night, the Ashland City Fire Department along with the Pleasant View Fire Department responded to a brush fire at an Ashland City residence. When the firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered a large number of dogs around the property and were prompted to call Cheatham County Animal Control. Animal control identified the property as a suspected dogfighting/breeding operation. Animal Rescue Corps found 65 dogs scattered around the scene; all with large/heavy chains around their neck and were tied to stakes in the ground. Most of the dogs were American Pit Bull Terriers and there were some beagles all of them required immediate medical attention and not one of them had access to food or fresh water.

ARC transported all of the animals to ARC’s Rescue Center, where each animal received a thorough veterinary exam, appropriate vaccinations, and any necessary medical treatments until they were matched and transported to trusted shelter and rescue partner organizations that ultimately adopted them into loving homes. Animal Rescue Corps performed this rescue in conjunction with: Cheatham County Animal Control; New Leash on Life, a shelter in Lebanon, TN; Agape Animal Rescue out of Nashville; the Nashville Zoo, and the Tennessee State Highway Patrol.
