Caged and in need: Backyard breeding animal rescue
ARC’s field team deployed to Portland, Tennessee at the urgent request of law enforcement for an emergency animal rescue. 21 animals suffered, in desperate need of help when the team arrived.

OPERATION TINY TITANS
- Date: July 25, 2025
- Situation: Backyard Breeding, Cruelty Case
- Number: 21 animals – 18 dogs, 1 pig, 1 cat, 1 chicken
- Priority: URGENT
Over half of the dogs lived caged in the kitchen of the home. Cockroaches crawled everywhere, and the dogs and other animals showed a palpable lack of care and comfort.
Fortunately, the residents surrendered every animal on site. However, the animal control resources in this county are too small to help these dogs, pig, cat, and chicken. But together, you and ARC can unite to help them.
Each one of these animals will be relocated to ARC’s Rescue Center where they will receive much-needed medical and social care, as well as daily physical care and enrichment until they are ready to be placed within our network of vetted placement partners in high-adoption regions.
If you are in a position to help today with a donation to support ARC’s work, please do. Every donation makes a difference.
And, if you are in a position to volunteer, please sign up today. Opportunities are always available in ARC’s Rescue Center outside Nashville, TN, as well as sometimes nationally and beyond. We sometimes offer travel stipends.
