Emergency rescue of 11 exotic birds, three chickens, two dogs, and a miniature horse from a filthy and trash-strewn property

Animal Rescue Corps’ Field Team deployed today for the emergency rescue of 17 animals, assisting law enforcement with another cruelty case in Cheatham County, TN. 11 exotic birds, three chickens, two dogs, and a miniature horse survived on a filthy and trash-strewn property, subject to neglect. These animals were in urgent need of veterinary attention as well as physical and social care.

OPERATION SKYFALL

  • Date: August 7, 2025
  • Situation: Hoarding, Cruelty Case
  • Number: 17 animals – 11 exotic birds, 2 dogs, 3 chickens, 1 miniature horse
  • Priority: URGENT

Many of the animals suffered from low body condition scores and prolonged ammonia exposure from high levels in the home. The house was also infested with bugs and mice.

Some birds were loose in the chaos of the house. Some live caged in dirty, bare cages. Others did not survive, and their remains were discovered kept in a freezer.

Following the emergency rescue, ARC’s rescue partner Piccolo Farms Animal Sanctuary is taking the horse and chickens into their care for treatment and recovery. The remaining animals will be relocated to ARC’s Rescue Center where they will receive much-needed medical and social care, as well as daily physical care and enrichment until they are ready to be placed within our network of vetted placement partners in high-adoption regions.
