Hoarded dogs & flash floods in Louisiana

ARC’s Field Team deployed to southeastern Louisiana for Operation Rising Waters after receiving a report of dozens of hoarded chihuahua mixes in peril as floodwaters rose around them.

Dangerous storms and flash floods in Louisiana meant these dogs did not have a second to spare. Local agencies Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) and Zeus’ Rescues coordinated local support to remove the dogs out of the path of flooding. But there were too many dogs for any of the already full local agencies to care for and place. And that is when ARC steps in, and why our ability to be a lifeline for these 20+ dogs is so crucial. Thanks to the compassion of our supporters and volunteers, each one of these animals will receive the housing and urgent care they need and deserve and, after recovery, will be placed with our nationwide network of shelter partners.
