Emergency Rescue: Used For Breeding and In Peril at the Holidays

Animal Rescue Corps’ Field Team responded to an urgent request for help when the eviction of a backyard breeder in a rural county deep in Tennessee left 9 dogs about to be euthanized and in need of an emergency rescue right before the holidays.

The rural county where the dogs were located did not have an animal shelter, leaving the German Shepherds and elder cocker spaniels on the property with no lifeline and facing an extremely uncertain future.

Without somewhere for the dogs to go, the breeder had planned to euthanize the animals, with her eviction just a few days away. But after Animal Rescue Corps’ intervention, she agreed to immediately stop breeding and surrendered the animals into ARC’s care.

Elder cocker spaniel Sonnie, pictured here, was just one of the dogs in peril during this emergency rescue. Together with the rest of these dogs, Sonnie deserves to know what it is like to be safe and protected as part of a loving family. Now, Sonnie and the rest of them will be relocated to ARC’s Rescue Center where they will receive medical and social care, daily physical care, and enrichment until they are ready to be placed within our network of vetted placement partners in high-adoption regions. Sonnie may be an elder dog now, but his holidays and his golden years deserve all of the safety and love that life can offer.

With your help, their new lives begin now. And right now, your donation can be matched through year-end until our $45,000 matching challenge is met.
